This is what my dog Manu looked like when he came to us. Little or no hair, infections galore, a terrified creature. With a little time, love, and patience he morphed in to an exceptional beauty with more energy than I can keep up with.
He is the poster child for second chances. Someone somewhere threw that boy away and left him to die. He fought and struggled till he found another someone willing to take a chance on him. I feel blessed they did.
A rescue agency saw the potential and they were willing to risk themselves to help. They risked their money their time and most importantly their hearts. Agencies like that are filled with people who feel deeply about the animals and the work they do. The loss of one can cut deep, yet they continue.
That’s life though, isn’t it, taking chances? Risking who we are now to become who we’re meant to be. All the while hoping someone sees the potential in us and might help us realize it.
Figuring out we are not alone and dependent on each other is a huge step more of us need to take. Reaching a hand to help someone or some beast up, is a hand or paw there when you fall. It’s been said many times before about rescue animals, “who rescued who?”. It's true, my Manu has put a Manu sized hole in the wall and eaten my
blinds and door frame but he has brought more joy and laughter into my home than I can measure.
We, all of us on this world are a part of something, a part of each other. Might as well make the most of it and go forward together. Lend a hand to a beast or a buddy or both. I promise one way or another your life will never be the same.
May the holes in your wall never be bigger than Manu sized.
