Celebrating a woman’s group dedicated to the environment
For anyone that lives in snow country these seed packets are filled with hope. When those packets are put in the hands of women of hope you have no idea the miracles that will grow. Doing research for my book Hope For a New World I was shocked and amazed at how many women are dedicated to saving this planet. It’s sad that too often the good stories are blocked out by the bad. We need to change that.
It is time we shine a light on these women and the work they do. March is a great month for celebrating women dedicated to healing the earth. Here is a group so near me that I knew nothing about until I was on a job hunt for environmental learning opportunities. In North Branch Minnesota the Women's Environmental Institute, WEI is one of those organizations doing heroic things on our behalf. They exist to create and share knowledge about environmental issues and policies relevant to women, children and identified communities affected by environmental injustice.
WEI is a center for learning and education. The skill of nurturing life from the soil is precious and must be preserved and passed on. These women of hope are keeping those skills alive at their ‘Down To Earth School’ they provide affordable access to environmental, farming and food justice education. They are preserving the very heart of our needs allowing us to survive. For some it may just look like putting a seed in the soil. For those who see with better eyes it is growing hope for the world.
May your seeds always root.
