Recommended Goat Reads

reneewpeek

Normally at the end of March I would be outside looking for my perennials on the south side of the house to be poking their heads out of the dirt. Not so this year, we still have over three feet of snow on the ground.

I’m not the only one struggling with this, the goats are tired of only being able to travel the trails I shoveled for them, so I thought we might pass the time doing something together.

When they first arrived here they were frightened of me. To ease their fears I spent time with them. I sat with them while I was editing my first Sci-Fi novel “Hope For a New World.” I started reading it out loud. They seemed to enjoy that, coming over sniffing at me and nibbling on my clothes. Eventually they would lay down in my lap or next to me and just listen.

They all weighed about 60 pounds less at that time, they are big boys now. But I thought I’d give reading with them another shot. I was pleasantly surprised, they did seem very interested in the book but more so eating it. I’ve heard people say they need to take time and digest what they’ve read, but my guys gave that a far more literal application. It was a fun way to pass the time. So if you know anyone that wants a book that has been gently caressed by goat lips let me know.
