Escapees.

Goats are incredibly contrary creatures. They seem to intuitively know exactly where you don’t want them to be. I have a huge field for my boys to be in, but no. I have even tried to encourage them to venture out into the yard, but no my goats only want to be in the pole barn. They taste and nibble on any and everything they shouldn’t.

The only plus is they can’t use their special powers of gravitational pull to lock themselves to the ground. For those of you that don’t know, it is a skill of goats. On bare ground those stubborn little critters can increase the gravitational forces and become completely immovable objects. In the pole barn though I can easily slide them across the concrete floor when they set their legs and refuse to move.

Because these boys are fainters, I have to be cautious. I really don’t want to scare them back in. It’s hard enough on them when they fall over, certainly don’t want them to do it on the hard floor amid the equipment. They can still be frightened, though they have gotten better with the people and activities around here. They are even okay with the dog, now eager to head butt him if he gets in their way.

May your goats always be slidable.
