Sam is Shedding

Spring chores are piling up. Major cleaning for the goats and chickens. And as with all animals in the spring our sasquatch is shedding. I will have to re-fur the big guy. We have several bags of llama fiber to take care of that. I get to think about my big beasts every time I use the fiber. Those three regal animals will forever be remembered at Bear Run.

We are waiting for the humming birds to arrive. They are very late this year. I have made the first batch of syrup extra heavy on the sugar. They are tired when they arrive, and in need of sustenance. We already had our first bear amble through the yard. He was very polite, came and went without any encouragement. They are a worry in spring. There is still food in the chicken coop. Bears don’t go after chickens they are however very interested in their food. In the summer I can always tell when the deer or bears have been at the chicken food, when the feeder is licked clean. Chicken tongues don’t do licking.

May your sasquatch never go bald.
